Episod pilot!

Episode 1 – The New Fight

“Oh boy, we’re finally home!” Naruto said looking at the mountain. “Come on! Kakashi sensei, you’re treating us to ramen right?”
“Hey Naruto! Slow down,” Sakura said walking shouting after him.
“It can’t be helped, Sakura-san,” Sai said smiling. “Ever since Naruto-kun became Jounin he’s more energetic than ever.”
“Naruto’s always that energetic,” Sakura complained.
“We’d better catch up to him, or he’ll eat the whole ramen shop,” Kakashi said.
The three went to the ramen shop where they found Naruto already at his second bowl. Sakura sat down on his left smiling while Sai and Kakashi sat on hi right. After they had all eaten their full, Kakashi went on ahead to debrief Tsunade. Sai also left, saying he had things to do and would meet them there while Sakura and Naruto walked to Tsunade’s office to see what their next mission would be.
On the way they met up with team Gai. Lee and his master were as high spirited as usual, while Tenten looked at Lee with the corner of her eye. Neji was the only one who kept a straight face and barely said hi to them.
“Hey fuzzy-eyebrows! Long time no see!” Naruto stated smiling.
Lee nodded in reply and said: “Naruto-kun, I heard you’ve become a Jounin like me and Neji.”
Naruto only smiled at a response while Neji fixed him with his eyes and slightly frowned.
“Yes, some of the Chuunin from your generation have reached the rank of Jounin,” Gai said with his usual smile.
“Oh? Who else?” Sakura asked.
“Well if I remember it right…,” Gai said putting his right hand to his chin. “I think it was Inuzuka Kiba and Aburame Shino from team Kurenai and Nara Shikamaru from team Asuma.”
“Wow! I gotta go find them!” Naruto said and ran off.
“Naruto! Wait for me!” Sakura shouted and ran after him.
The two ran passed an alley from where Hinata was watching and as Naruto ran by her she smiled then retreated.
While Naruto was searching for his friends, back at Tsunade’s office, Kakashi was relating the mission details. Tsunade was looking over a few papers with Shizune helping her, while Jiraiya was leaning against the wall next to her.
“Naruto’s growing stronger and stronger,” Shizune stated.
“Heh! That kid will be fearsome when he grows up,” Jiraiya said with a proud smile.
“Well I don’t have a mission for you for now…” Tsunade said looking at a piece of paper with a concerned look on his face.
“Team Kakashi will be ready whenever you need them,” Kakashi said and disappeared.
Once he was gone everyone looked worried. Tsunade gave Shizune one look and she left the two Sannin alone. Tsunade put the piece of paper down, knit her fingers together and closed her eyes as she leaned her head against her hands. Jiraiya frowned as he looked at her with an angry look.
“Why didn’t you tell him about it?” he asked.
“Tell them what? That we have an anonymous tip of Hebi’s whereabouts?” Tsunade replied.
“They deserve to know about it and…”
“They’ll know after I’ve made sure is not a trap!” Tsunade interrupted.
“Keh! You’re worse than the old man,” Jiraiya said and left by the window.

Episode 2 – Back on the trail

Morning and team Kakashi is in Tsunade’s office waiting for their next mission.
“Your mission this time is to track down a gang of robbers that has been robbing dozens of merchants,” Tsunade said looking over a file. “They seem to know exactly when to attack and where and no one has any clue who they are.”
“We’ll leave immediately,” Kakashi stated.
“Sounds easy,” Naruto stated confidently.
Team Kakashi left Konoha with Naruto leading them with the same cheerful he had always had on. Behind him walked Sakura, who kept her eyes on him and Sai who just kept his eyes forward with a simple smile on his face.
Kakashi was bringing up the rear and looking at all of them.
‘Things have finally been pretty good lately,’ he thought.
“Kakashi-sensei!” Naruto shouted several feet in front of him, with Sakura and Sai beside him. “We’re going to leave you behind!”
“I’m coming, I’m coming!” Kakashi shouted and hastened his pace.
As night fell they were half way to their destination but set up camp to be well rested, especially since Naruto had rushed them the whole day. Sakura and Sai were tired and had already fallen asleep, even Kakashi was half asleep, even though he was supposed to be on guard duty. Luckily, Pakkun woke him up by pulling on his right sleeve.
“Eh? What is it, Pakkun?” Kakashi said scratching his head, with half-open eyes.
“Look over there,” the little dog said looking at Naruto’s empty sleeping bag.
“Not again…” Kakashi said and stood up.
Pakkun followed his scent all the way to a nearby river where Naruto was fighting with several shadow clones. He was covered in sweat and his clothes were all messy and dirty but he was not letting up for one second. Twenty clones were attacking him with everything but the Rasengan.
“So he’s been doing this every night?” Pakkun asked.
“Yeah, he pretends to be alright during the day but he trains every night,” Kakashi explained.
“I thought he gave up looking for Sasuke,” Pakkun stated.
“Well he claims to have given up and since what information we have about him are only rumours, he has no reason to start looking for him again.”
“You want me to keep an eye on him?” Pakkun asked sitting down.
“Yeah, wake me up if he passes out,” Kakashi said and went back to the others.
He sat back down and looked at the stars but out of the two in front of him, only Sai was really asleep. Sakura was wide awake and looked at the bushes in front of her, hearing Naruto from time to time when he took a stronger hit from one of the clones.
The next morning they continued with their journey and although Naruto was smiling as usual and pretended to be full of energy, Kakashi and Sakura knew better. The pink haired young woman was forcing herself to smile but Sai and Kakashi could see through it.
A few hours later they reached the road where the robberies had been taking place and started investigating. As skilled as the thieves were, nothing escaped Team Kakashi’s notice. The thieves left sings everywhere and the four shinobi followed the clues all the way to their hideout. They were eleven in total and were no match for any of them but Naruto took care of it all before the other members of the team could raise a finger.
With the mission finished they returned to Konoha where they arrived the following afternoon and were summoned by Tsunade immediately.
“What is it, old lady Tsunade?” Naruto asked with a bored look on his face. “I didn’t even get a ramen bowl.”
“We have information pertaining to Hebi’s location,” Tsunade said with a grave look on her face.

Episode 3 – A strange Ninja

“Hebi…?” Naruto said surprised.
“Yes, I’ve already given the details to Kakashi and since I don’t have anymore missions for the time being, you have three days to do as you please,” Tsunade explained.
As soon as they left Godaime’s office they each went home to pick up a few things and then went to the entrance to the city where Naruto was waiting impatiently. They left with him leading the group as always but Sakura walked slower than usual.
‘Naruto, are you still trying to fulfil your promise?’ she thought as she looked at him.
Kakashi looked at him and then at Sakura and sighed: ‘Here we go again.’
At their hideout, Hebi were relaxing while Sasuke was meditating alone in his room. Karin was pacing back and forth around the room while Suigetsu was looking at her grinning.
“I just wish he wouldn’t stay locked up in his room all day,” she complained.
“Admit it! You want him to stay with you all day long,” Suigetsu said giggling.
“Would you just shut up!” she yelled at him. “You’re annoying! Why Sasuke kept you around I’ll never know!”
“You two shouldn’t be so loud,” Jugo interrupted them. “Sasuke is trying to meditate.”
In his room, Sasuke was sitting on the floor with his legs crossed underneath him. By his side was his sword and in front of him, Itachi’s old head protector. His eyes were closed and he never moved a muscle, not even when Karin burst through the door.
“Sasuke! There are several people headed this way!” she yelled.
“How many?” Sasuke asked without raising his head or opening his eyes.
“There are four coming from the east and one from the north,” Karin replied.
“Pack everything up, we’re leaving,” he said putting the head protector away in his shirt and picked up his sword.
The three members of Hebi rushed to pack their weapons and equipment and when their leader came out of his room, they left their hideout immediately.
Meanwhile, team Kakashi arrived just after their targets had left but Pakkun could still smell a strong scent in the building. However, he could not follow it once they were outside. They had used a smoke bomb with special chemicals to hide their scent and confuse their tracker.
“Sorry, Kakashi,” Pakkun said looking up. “I can’t tell which way they went.”
“Damn it!” Naruto exclaimed clenching his fists. “We were so close.”
“But it proves that the one who provided this information was not lying,” Sai stated.
Pakkun suddenly started sniffing the air and jumped into a tree to get a better view of things.
“What is it, Pakkun?” Kakashi asked jumping on the branch next to him.
“Some strange smell is headed this way,” the dog answered sniffing the air. “It’s male but whoever he is, he’s moving faster than you.”
Kakashi jumped down and took a kunai out of his holster and took an offensive stance. The others did the same, realising some danger was approaching. Suddenly, they heard a few leaves rustling to their left and Naruto instantly threw a kunai in that direction. At the same time, another kunai came flying from the bushes and hit the one Naruto had thrown.
The young Jounin wasted no more time and ran towards the bushes, preparing a kunai and a few shuriken. He threw the shuriken at the bushes when he was just half way to them, which made whoever was hiding in them jump in the air. Naruto instantly leaped to cut off his escape and they met kunai to kunai.
The young man, with dark purple hair and blue eyes said with a shock: “You?”
Both landed but remained in an offensive pose. The rest of team Kakashi ran behind Naruto and prepared to attack if their new enemy did so.
“Whoa! Hold it!” the young man said putting his weapon away and putting his hands in front of him.

Episode 4 – Sarutobi’s Secret

Back at Konoha, team Kakashi brought the new arrival to see Tsunade. In her office, a few of the older Jounin gathered to find out who he was. Jiraiya looked at him confused, sensing something strangely familiar about him.
“So you claim to be a pupil of the Third?” Tsunade asked breaking the silence.
“Indeed I am,” the young man answered. “He started training when I was very young to be a protector of Konoha if anything should ever happen to him… at least that’s what the old geezer said.”
“So why show yourself three years after his death?” Jiraiya asked.
“Well he told me to finish my training first,” he replied taking a pack of cigarettes from his holster. “You guys mind if I smoke here?”
They looked at him confused and with doubt in their eyes as he placidly lit a cigarette and started smoking. The way he acted was like he was one of them and not an outsider they had to keep an eye on.
“Can you prove any of this? And what is your name anyway?” Tsunade asked.
The young puffed a smoke from his cigarette, held it for a few seconds then let it slowly out of his lungs.
“Well…” he said taking a scroll out of his holster. “You can ask him.”
He then bit his finger and let a few drops of blood fall on the rolled out scroll. Moments later an explosion of smoke filled the room and out came the monkey king Enma. Everyone in the room was shocked to see the legendary summoned beast the Third used to call upon for help.
“Oh! Akira! So it’s finally time, eh?” Enma said smiling.
“I guess…” Akira said scratching his head.
“Enma, what are you doing here?” Tsunade asked snapping out of the initial shock.
“Sarutobi asked me to tell you about him when the time came. The boy has great power and will be Konoha’s secret weapon in time’s of need,” the monkey king explained.
They were all amazed the great Enma would actually come to introduce that young man to them, even though it was requested by the Third. After delivering his message, Enma disappeared in a cloud of smoke and team Kakashi was assigned to give Akira a tour of the village while Tsunade and the elder ninja council discussed what was to be done.
Naruto took his new acquaintance to see his favourite places in Konoha, from the Hokage Mountain to the ramen shop. On the way, he was introduced to several other shinobi from Naruto’s generation and the blonde young man was able to see a lot of his friends.
Meanwhile, at Tsunade’s office, they were still discussing what to do with Akira.
“We have the insurance of Enma that he is who he says he is,” Setsuna of the elder ninja council said.
“We cannot deny that we need someone like him as a safeguard against great threats. The Akatsuki may be dead but we cannot be sure there are no other organisations similar to them,” Kotusei of the elder ninja council added.
“I still say there is more to him than meets the eye,” she replied sitting back in her chair. “What do you think?” Tsunade asked looking at Jiraiya.
Jiraiya was silent and only stared out the window. He either pretended not to hear her or was actually too deep in thought.
‘Why is he so familiar?’ he said to himself.

Episode 5 – Lee’s Challenge

Morning and Naruto is fast asleep at home. He wakes up, brushes his teeth, has breakfast then leaves to meet up with Sakura. On the way, Lee catches up to him and jumps in front of him.
“Naruto-kun! I need to talk to you!” he said extending his arms and blocking his path.
“Eh? What is it, fuzzy-eyebrows?” Naruto asked annoyed.
“Naruto-kun, I want to fight you!” Lee demanded.
His reply shocked him but he couldn’t help feeling excited by the proposition. He followed Lee all the way to the arena where the Chuunin exams had taken place three years ago. In the stands both the other shinobi of their generation and their team leaders along with other ninja were waiting for the fight to begin. In the middle of the arena, Jiraiya waited for them.
“Alright you two don’t go over-board with this or I’ll stop it. Got it?” the Sannin said crossing his arms over his chest.
“Yes, sir!” Lee exclaimed.
“No problem, I’ll finish this in not time,” Naruto said smiling confidently.
Jiraiya left the ring and the two ninja each took an offensive stance. They gazed at each other for a few moments, both smiling because of the excitement. In a split second, both sprinted from where they were standing and attacked each other, only using fists and feet.
Though Lee was pretty fast, Naruto seemed to have no trouble in keeping up with the taijutsu genius. After a while, both jumped back a few feet and smiled again at each other.
“You’ve become faster, Naruto-kun,” Lee stated.
“I’m just warming up,” he replied. “Maybe you should take off those weights, you’ll need your speed to be able to see how fast I’ll win.”
Lee took his advice and crouched, then started taking the weights off his feet. The Jounin in the stands were gazing at the two, surprised by how much they both had grown. The ones that were really shocked were their own team leaders.
“Kakashi… those two…” Gai said but couldn’t finish his sentence.
“I know,” Kakashi replied. “They’ve become stronger than us.”
After he had taken the weights off, Lee was back on the attack and with his increased speed he was near Naruto before he could block. However, when the green beast of Konoha punched his adversary, he turned into smoke. By the time he realised it had been a trick, Naruto was already behind him and punched him the second he turned.
By doing a few summersaults, Lee was able to stay on his feet and attack again. His second assault was met by dozens of shadow clones that slowed him down. When he finally got rid off all the clones he was at only a few feet from Naruto.
‘I should have known I couldn’t win without my special move,’ Lee said to himself as he partially unravelled the bandages on his arms.
When he was ready to perform his special attack, he ran towards Naruto with the same incredible speed and his opponent couldn’t do anything to avoid being caught in Lee’s omote renge. But as soon as he got up in the air with him and began his descent, the body he was holding turned into smoke and Lee realised it had been just another clone, only to trap him.
After crashing to the ground and slowly getting back on his feet, Lee was attacked by the real Naruto who used one of his signature techniques, the Uzumaki Naruto Rendan. With that the fight was over and the spectators were too amazed to even applaud.
‘You have a new rival, Lee,’ Gai said to himself smiling.
‘Naruto, you’ve definetly surpassed me,’ Kakashi thought.
“If he keeps this up, he’ll be a Sannin in a few years,” Jiraiya said to Tsunade.
“Hmm… It wouldn’t surprise me,” Tsunade replied.
Akira had watched the whole battle with a simple smile on his face and puffing a smoke every now and then. ‘Not bad,’ he said to himself once the battle was over.

Episode 6 – Clouds for eyes

After the fight with Lee, team Kakashi had a simple mission to escort a nobleman from Konoha to a nearby village. Their mission only took four days and they were back home and continued to be Akira’s tour guide.
Akira seemed to want to spend as much time with him as possible and Sakura was having a hard time keeping up with the two energetic young men. After receiving his headband, he also got a black Jounin jacket he wore over his dark red T-shirt. He asked for a black one to match the colour of his trousers. All the while, Hinata kept following them around from a distance, both spying on Naruto and curious of the new addition to the village of Leaf.
While at the ramen shop, the three were taking a much needed lunch break and Sakura was able to finally sit down and rest. She and Naruto were eating their food unaware someone was watching them from a few feet away behind the corner.
Hinata looked away for one second and when she looked back, one of the three had disappeared.
“Hi!” Akira said from on top of the wall she was hiding behind.
Hinata yelled because of the shock and ran off, especially because her scream had alerted the other two who paid for lunch and walked over to him.
“What’s going on?” Naruto asked.
“Was that Hinata?” Sakura said looking at the girl running away.
‘Hinata…’ Akira said to himself smiling. ‘She has clouds for eyes.’
After that, Naruto and Sakura went to the academy because Naruto wanted to see Iruka and Konohamaru. Akira went to see Tsunade to see what they had decided. Once there only she and the elder ninja council were in her office.
“We’ve decided to grant you the rank of Jounin just as the Third probably planned to do, you can pick up your forehead protector tomorrow morning,” Tsunade said with a cold look on her face.
“Okay,” Akira replied and left.
Up on the roof, Jiraiya was watching him with doubt in his eyes.
On his way back from Tsunade’s office, Akira met up with Hinata and Neji. She still looked a little shaken from their previous encounter and didn’t look Akira in the eye. Neji, however, did not like the way he looked at his cousin and glared at him.
“Hi! You’re Hinata, right?” Akira said smiling.
“Y-yeah,” she said hiding her eyes.
“Who are you?” Neji demanded.
“Oh, you must be Neji! Akira Oroshi’s the name, having fun is my game,” he answered smiling.
“Keep your distance from Hinata-sama, if you know what’s good for you,” Neji with an even fiercer look on his face.
“What are you, her boyfriend?” Akira asked with an annoyed look on his face.
“That is none of your business, come Hinata-sama,” Neji said and they started walking away.
Akira kept walking home while the two walked in the opposite direction. For a few moments, Neji turned around and looked at him with his Byakugan but when he saw the inside of him he started shaking. When Akira turned around and a shadow passed over his cornea and iris, making them black for a split second, the child prodigy of the Hyuga clan was even more frightened.
After Akira turned around and walked away, Neji did the same but looked more nervous than ever in his life by what he had seen inside his body.

Episode 7 – Reunion part I – The anonymous source

One morning someone knocking on his bedroom window woke Naruto up. After rubbing his eyes and pulling the curtain away he saw Akira right outside, with his feet attached to the wall and sitting on them like a chair.
“What is it?” Naruto asked yawning.
“Hebi,” Akira replied and put out his cigarette on the wall.
Naruto jumped to his feet, changed his clothes and jumped out the window and started running towards Tsunade’s office. Akira looked at him with a blank look on his face for a few moments, then smiled and ran after him.
When Naruto got to Tsunade, Kakashi, Sakura and Sai were already there waiting for him.
“Took you long enough,” the female Hokage said smiling.
“You have information about Sasuke?” Naruto shouted.
“Yes, our ‘anonymous’ source has provided us with the location of Hebi’s current hideout,” Tsunade explained.
“Hokage-sama who is the one that provided this information?” Sai asked.
“He’s right behind you,” Tsunade answered smiling.
When they turned around they saw Akira leaning against the opened door with a lit cigarette in his right hand and a smile on his face.
“Ready to go?” he asked.
“You know it!” Naruto replied, smiling back.
By the afternoon of the following day they reached Hebi’s hideout and had already planned an attack. Sai and Kakashi had to cover the possible escape route, while Naruto and Akira were to launch the initial attack and Sakura would stay hidden just in case they had already been discovered by their target.
But just when Naruto and Akira jumped down and were about to run inside, Sasuke and his team ran out prepared to fight.
“I’m sorry, Sasuke… I don’t know why I didn’t sense them earlier,” Karin said.
“It can’t be helped, we’ll just have to fight,” Sasuke said grabbing the handle of his sword.
Kakashi and Sai jumped out from behind them and prepared to fight and Sakura also came out from her hiding place and ran next to Naruto.
“Damn! We’re surrounded,” Suigetsu said looking around.
“You three can leave, I have some unfinished business,” Sasuke said looking at Naruto and pulled out his sword.
The three reluctantly obeyed him and ran off with Kakashi and Sai on their heels.
Naruto and Sasuke looked at each other in the eyes. Sakura wanted to approach her teammate but Akira stretched out his hand and stopped her.
“I think he should handle this by himself,” Akira said looking more serious than she had ever seen him.
Naruto wasted no time and used his No. 1 technique to create ten shadow clones that jumped in the air, each throwing a kunai at him. Sasuke easily avoided that first attack and fought back by stretching his Chidori blade towards the real Naruto. The leaf Jounin avoided a direct shot with the help of a clone that pushed him out of the way and it only grazed his back.
While Sasuke was distracted by the initial attack, five other clones had cornered him and had put the Uzumaki Naruto Rendan in motion by kicking him in the air. However, once next to his opponent, Sasuke parried his kick and managed to kick him instead.
Naruto did not leave it at that and by twisting around he kicked Sasuke in the face and the stomach, then he grabbed his shirt and threw him to the ground. At only a few feet away from the ground, the last of the Uchiha spun in the air and landed on his feet. He did not have time to raise his head because Naruto finished his initial attack, even though his opponent was on the ground, by delivering a kick to the head.
When the foot hit him on the head, Sasuke grabbed him and tried to knock his attacker to the ground. Before he could finish his counter, a couple of shadow clones punched him in the face and kept him busy while Naruto prepared and hit him with the initial form of the Ransengan. Sasuke was sent flying several feet back and stopped when he hit a tree.
