Episode 8 – Reunion part II – Promise fulfilled
“Give up, Sasuke,” Naruto said trying to catch his breath. For a few moments the last son of the Uchiha clan lay still in front of the tree he had been knocked against. It seemed that he had passed out but Naruto was breathing so hard he had to catch his breath before he could continue. Sakura wanted to run to the young Jounin but was stopped when Akira grabbed her hand. She pulled away from him, turned around and glared but when he saw he had the same serious look on his face, she calmed down. After finally recovering from the effort, Naruto started walking towards Sasuke but when he was only a few feet away, he stood up and punched him in the stomach. When Naruto looked up he saw that his adversary had activated the Sharingan, although not in its most powerful form. “Looks like I’ll have to drag you back after all,” Naruto said rubbing his stomach. “Why do you insist on taking me back to that pathetic village? I no longer have ties with anyone there,” Sasuke said walking towards him. “You’re wrong,” Naruto replied standing. “As long as Kakashi sensei, Sakura-chan are alive you will always be tied to that village. And as long as I’m alive, I’ll never stop trying to bring you back.” Sasuke did not reply but attacked him again, using the Sharingan to read his moves. He was shocked to see that Naruto was easily blocking both his punches and his kicks and was even able to attack him as well. Although his eyes were able to see his movement to the smallest detail, Naruto was moving too fast for him to keep up. He was eventually forced to pull back and jumped several feet away from him but Naruto was relentless and went after him along with fifty shadow clones. But those clones were useless against Sasuke’s Chidori field that made them turn into clouds of smoke the instant it touched them. He was able to run all the way to the real one, with the electricity around his body as a defence. However, the one he thought was real had been a clone and behind him, Naruto was waiting with another Rasengan that knocked Sasuke back into the tree. Naruto did not wait to see if he was faking again and walked over to him to check. He sighed relieved when he saw that that time Sasuke had been knocked out cold. Once the fight was over, Akira smiled and let Sakura go to her friend and start healing his wounds. “I did it, Sakura-chan,” Naruto said smiling. “You idiot, you could have been killed! Next time you get a crazy idea like this, ask Kakashi sensei if it’s a good idea! When we get back to Tsunade-sama…” Naruto looked puzzled as she scolded him but Akira was smiling wider than ever. ‘You guys are really something,’ he said to himself. Minutes later, Kakashi and Sai returned empty handed. It seemed that Jugo had lost control and driven them back, then ran after his two teammates, apparently with the intention of killing them. Kakashi stopped the pursuit because he was worried about Naruto and their mission priority was to bring Sasuke back, since he was their leader, they would not be so much trouble on their own. Kakashi and Akira carried Sasuke back while Sakura walked beside Naruto, making sure he was alright and Sai was covering their backs. “So it was that easy?” Kakashi asked slightly turning his head to Akira. “Yeah, it looked like he didn’t push himself too hard,” Akira replied. Kakashi then looked at Naruto and Sakura with a concerned look in his eyes. ‘This will be interesting,’ he said to himself.

Episode 9 – Make a decision!
As soon as they arrived back in Konoha, Sasuke was taken to a medical team to asses the gravity of his injuries but due to the healing powers he had from Orochimaru, his wounds were almost completely healed. They immediately escorted him to a prison cell, locked with explosive seals. The entire village seemed to be nervous to have him back, especially the other shinobi his age. Even the ANBU guarding him were nervous to be there but they had orders to keep his eyes on him 24/7. After giving their report to Tsunade, Akira and team Kakashi slowly walked to the ramen shop. Sakura hadn’t spoken a single word since they had returned to the village and did not even look at Naruto. At the same time, the blonde Jounin behaved exactly the same. Sai had already left the group and Kakashi and Akira had been left alone by the other two that had each walked away in a different direction. “Kakashi… I don’t get it,” Akira said once they were alone. “Didn’t they want to bring Sasuke back? Why aren’t they happy?” “Well… it’s a long story with those three. Our Chuunin with pink hair had always been infatuated with the last of the Uchiha while the hothead of the group had a thing for her.” “I see…” Akira said and listened on. “When Sasuke left the village, she blamed herself for not being able to stop him and asked Naruto to bring him back. Naruto promised to bring him back and couldn’t so he felt he failed her and Sasuke,” Kakashi explained. “Failed Sasuke?” Akira asked confused. “Those two have been both been rivals and close friends,” Kakashi stated. “Aha… I get it,” Akira said with a suspicious smile on his face. “I get the feeling that Sakura no longer feels the same but a certain Jounin is too dumb to see it.” “It’s obvious, isn’t it?” Kakashi said smiling. “It sure is… see ya’ later Kakashi!” Akira said and ran off. Akira ran in the direction Sakura went and made a shadow clone he sent after Naruto. It took him half an hour to find the female Chuunin and even longer to find his second target. She was sitting alone on a bench in a park with a face that could be read like a book. She was both upset and confused by everything that had happened and never even noticed him until he sat down next to her. “Akira?” she said surprised. “Is there something wrong?” “I could ask you the same question. What’s with the gloomy face? Haven’t you guys been trying to get Sasuke back for years?” “I guess so,” she said lowering her head. “I also heard you had strong feelings for him,” Akira continued. Sakura did not answer instead she clenched her hands into fists. “Someone also told me Naruto felt that way about you,” he added. Sakura remained silent and tears started filling her eyes. “And that Naruto promised to bring him back for you and when he couldn’t he thought he let you down and kept trying to fulfil his promise.” Sakura started sobbing and tears ran down her cheeks. She tried to hide her face from him but it was obvious she was minutes away from crying her heart out. “Sakura, why are you crying? Because you feel guilty that Naruto pushed him self because he cares about you more than anything else or because you’ve finally realised which one you really love?” he asked lighting a cigarette. His last question made her stop crying. She wiped her cheeks and turned around but he had disappeared. In the place he had sat there was a note that read: “Make a decision!” “You’re right,” she said smiling.

Episode 10 – A Terrible Power
Since team Kakashi did not have any missions and its members each had their own plan, Akira was left alone to explore the village. He walked around for a few hours, going to the places Naruto had shown him on his first tour. After having lunch at the ramen shop, eating about five bowls, he paid his bill and left but ran into Hinata. She was carrying a large bag and was smiling, something that attracted his attention. He hid behind a corner and waited for her and when she passed by said: “Hi! Need a hand?” She was surprised by him and dropped her bag but Akira was quick to grab it before it hit the ground. He gave it back to her saying: “Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you.” “It’s okay,” she timidly replied. “So… the guys don’t have any missions these days so I was wondering if you’d mind if tagged along for today,” he said smiling. “Uh… well, I’m a bit busy today,” she replied. “I just went to pick up some herbs and then I have to meet with Kurenai sensei and the others.” “Oh… well can I at least walk you home?” he said putting on a goofy smile. “S-sure,” she replied and started walking slowly. On the way to her house Hinata didn’t say a word and neither did Akira. After a while she seemed to be less nervous to be around him and started smiling. When they arrived, Neji was waiting at the entrance. He glared at him and stepped in between him and Hinata. “I thought I told you to leave Hinata-sama alone!” she snapped at him. “Neji-kun… he just walked me home,” Hinata nervously said. “Yeah, calm down will ya’?” Akira said with an irritated look on his face. “Hinata-sama, your father wants to see you,” Neji said, not taking his eyes off Akira. “Uh… goodbye, Akira-kun,” Hinata said and went inside. After she left the two did not lose eye contact for one second and eventually Neji challenged him to a fight. If he lost he would never bother Hinata again, however, if Neji lost he would have to leave him alone. It was decided they meet at midnight at the arena where Lee and Naruto had fought not too long ago. Sure enough, at exactly twelve o’clock, both were in the arena and ready to face each other. No words were needed and they started in a split second. Neji activated the Byakugan and attacked using his gentle fist but the easy way Akira blocked or dodged every attack, it was as if he knew how to use it as well. But looking closer, Neji realised his opponent was using simple taijutsu, much like Lee’s technique. After a few minutes, the fight seemed to be going nowhere so Akira decided to use more power. He focused his chakra in his hands and it took the form of small electric charges that came out of his hand. “What is that?” Neji asked taking a few steps back. “The perfect counter for your gentle fist, or at least good enough,” Akira replied. “It’s my Raiken!” In a blink of an eye, the shinobi with dark purple hair charged Neji, moving even faster than before and it was his opponent’s turn to avoid his attacks. Eventually, one of his blows got through and the electricity filled fist hit Neji. He retreated a few steps and felt the part of his body that got hit go numb. “That can’t be Chidori,” Neji stated. “Chidori? Oh, you mean Kakashi’s jutsu! No, this is something simpler and a lot less deadly,” Akira replied. “You see it’s different from your gentle fist but similar as well. Just like you attack the internal organs by messing with the chakra flow, I attack your muscles by messing with the electricity in your body. The principle is pretty much the same and you can’t defend against it but your muscles are not damaged, only paralysed for about half an hour.” Neji tried to attack again but the muscles surrounding his ribs did not respond and a second later, Akira was right next to him. After receiving four more blows, his entire body was numb and Neji fell to the ground. “I win!” Akira said smiling. “From now on you’ll leave me alone and don’t worry, you’ll be alright… in about thirty minutes or so.” He lit a cigarette and left the arena, without noticing that Jiraiya had been hiding in the stands and had watched the fight. His face was pale and he was shaking. ‘That power… I know that power…’ he said to himself.
Akira's mystery continues

Episode 11 – Naruto, I…
The following day, Akira woke up early and went for a walk. He was getting used to everything in the village and some of the villagers were getting used to him, especially the two working at the ramen shop. He was becoming a favoured customer just like Naruto because he went there often and always ate a lot. After a big breakfast he was on his way to Tsunade but walking towards him from the opposite direction was Sakura. She had the same look on her face as she did a few days ago and it was obvious that she had not told Naruto the truth. He hid and waited for her to get close enough, then popped out of the blue and said: “If you won’ tell him, I will.” “How can I just go up to him and tell him after everything that has happened?” she protested. “Easy! Get him alone and tell him,” Akira replied. “I can’t! I can’t just go to him and say: Naruto…” “What is it, Sakura-chan?” Naruto asked walking up behind her. She was shocked to see him and froze. She couldn’t even say hello and just stood there looking at him shaking. Akira was getting annoyed to see them like that and walked over to Naruto and was going to whisper something in his ear when Sakura pulled him away. “Alright, I’ll tell him,” she said on a low voice. “But let me do it my way.” “Fine, just remember he can be a bit slow sometimes,” Akira said and walked away. After Akira left them, Sakura smiled to hide how nervous she was and told Naruto she wanted to have fun all day. They went around town, seeing friends, stopping at their favourite places and stopping to eat from time to time. As the sun went down, they went for a walk in the forest nearby. She stopped next to a tree and sat down, asking him to join her. She was nervous and already blushing at the thought of what she was about to say to him and lowered her head because she couldn’t look at him. Naruto looked at her confused by the way she was acting. “Sakura-chan, you don’t have to go out with me to thank me for bringing Sasuke back, I promised I would do it… even if it took me longer than I thought,” the last part he said scratching his head and smiling. “Naruto… shut up,” she said keeping her head down. “Why don’t you go see Sasuke? I know he’s been annoying lately and has changed a lot but I’m sure you can bring him back to his old self,” Naruto continued. “Naruto… enough,” she said almost as a whisper. “I know you love him,” he said leaning against the tree. “You don’t have to be so nice to me…” “Naruto!” she yelled, suddenly raising her head. Tears were running down her cheeks, which confused the blonde Jounin even more. The expression on her face reminded him of how she looked like three years ago when she asked him to bring Sasuke back. “Sakura, I know you don’t like me that much…” She didn’t let him finish his sentence and grabbed him by his collar, pulled him towards her and kissed him. Naruto froze when he felt her lips pressed against his and didn’t move even after she pulled away. After a few minutes he smiled and looked away. “Sakura-chan, you don’t have to pretend. I know you only love Sasuke,” he said smiling even though it obviously pained him to say it. The next moment she punched him so hard he went through a tree, making it crash in front of him. The blow was so hard it almost knocked him unconscious. “Naruto, you’re an idiot!” she shouted and ran off crying. The Leaf Jounin didn’t know what was going on and just stayed there, on top of the broken tree, and looked in the direction she ran off to. Several feet away, Akira was sitting on a rock looking at him, resting his head on his left hand and his elbow on his knee. ‘I tried to warn her…’

Episode 12 – Sai’s decision
Team Kakashi were running through the trees. The four shinobi were not being accompanied by the new addition to the ranks of the Konoha ninja on that mission and it fell onto Kakashi’s shoulders to make sure Sakura and Naruto did not start a fight and jeopardise the mission. Akira had told him of what had happened and if he didn’t think they could keep their personal feelings out of their mission, he would not have agreed to take on the mission of eliminating a band of smugglers. However, the two were so distant Kakashi started wondering if it had been a good idea after all. ‘Why me?’ he complained, though not out loud. They reached their destination at nightfall and started planning their attack. Kakashi and Sakura went on first to make sure there were no traps while Naruto and Sai were right behind them. After only taking a few steps down the second hallway they fell through a trap door that separated them from the other two members of team Kakashi. After the two fell, Sakura and Kakashi were attacked by several ninja that were beant on eliminating them. By keeping them busy they were unable to get to their comrades, which placed the entire team in danger. Meanwhile, Naruto and Sai landed on the floor of the trap, about fifty feet from the trapdoor that had lead them there. The second they landed dozens of needles were shot at them from all sides. They managed to avoid or block all of them and when they broke the wooden walls around them, they found themselves surrounded by ninja. “It’s time to party, are you ready?” Naruto asked taking a kunai out of his holster. “As always,” Sai replied. The two shinobi attacked their enemies ad took them down one by one but they seemed to be endless and even with his kage bunshin, Naruto was not able to diminish their numbers too much and both were starting to get tired. In a split second, one of the ninja attacking them managed to knock him to the ground and another knocked him out. A second later, Sai unravelled a scroll from which several ink beasts jumped out and started attacking the ninja. When he was next to Naruto, Sai took out a piece of paper with a seal on it and remembered something from the previous day: <At the ANBU training grounds, Danzou seemed to be waiting for someone. A few minutes later, Sai landed a few feet away, kneeled and waited to be addressed. “My plans are not progressing well,” Danzou said walking towards the ANBU trainee. “I need something to speed things up.” “What do you mean, Danzou-sama?” Sai asked raising his head. “When I had you join team Kakashi, it was the perfect opportunity because Tsunade had refused to keep Naruto in Konoha but since that monster hasn’t lost control, you’ll have to make him.”> Sai kept looking both at the seal painted on the piece of paper and the unconscious Naruto beside him. He had the perfect opportunity and without anyone around, no one would see him do it. Naruto twitched for a moment and moaned and a second later, Sai ripped up the paper and tried to wake him. As soon as he woke up, the blonde Jounin jumped to his feet and continued the fight. Moments later, the trap door was opened by the other two members of their team who helped them get out. They left the building in a hurry and headed home, on the way, Sai was walking behind all of them with a confused look on his face. With the mission accomplished, Sai had to report to his superior. Once there he saw that Danzou was not pleased with how things had progressed. “Why didn’t you use the seal?” he demanded. “I apologise but I did not have the right opportunity and I’m afraid I lost it in the fight,” Sai answered. “Damn it! It will take a while to infuse another piece of paper with that much power. You’re free to go, for now,” Danzou said walking away. Sai went home and as he lay in bed, a smile appeared in the right corner of his lips.

Episode 13 – Answer me!
It was evening and Akira was walking around town. He was enjoying his few days off since team Kakashi did not have any dangerous missions he would have had to assist. In his left hand he had a few dumplings on a stick and in his right a bag full of other treats. The look on his face was calm as usual but he kept looking discretely with the corner of his eyes behind him, he knew someone was following him. The young man walked to the training grounds, stopped and waited for his follower to catch up. When he did, he put his food down and said: “You need to work on your stalking skills… Tsunade-sama.” Hearing his name, the Godaime came out from behind the bushes and said: “A lot of mystery seems to surround you. You have a power so great it even frightened the Byakugan eyes but no one has ever heard of you. You know a lot of things going on in the world and had precise information about Hebi when all we had were rumors. There are a lot of questions that need to be answered.” “Sorry, not in a mood to share,” Akira said turning around. He had a fierce look in his eyes, unlike the casual and comical expression his face usually displayed. Even the kunoichi was nervous to be around him but she was determined to get answers from him. She started walking towards him with the intent of getting information from him one way or the other. He looked at her with a cold expression on his face, his usual smile had disappeared and he almost looked angry she wanted to force him to do something he did not want to. After stopping a couple of feet from him she crossed her arms over her large chest and said: “I want to know everything about your past and I want to know now.” “Forget it,” he replied turning around. She firmly grabbed him by the shoulder and stopped him: “You’re not leaving here without giving me answers!” He turned around violently and knocked her hand off his shoulder. The look in his eyes was anger and a trace of fury but he did not retaliate and turned around again. However, she was not intimidated and demanded he told her everything and grabbed him again. That time he grabbed he hand and threw her over his shoulder. She made a few somersaults in the air and landed five feet from him. It became obvious that she had to force him to talk so she ran towards him and tried to grab him but he avoided her arms every time and after a while charged up his chakra in his hands and hit her left thigh, forcing her to back off. Being a medical ninja she instantly understood what his attack had done to her muscles and after using her skills to get feeling back in her leg and then attacked again. Akira waited for her to come closer and when she was next to him, she grazed his left shoulder but he managed to hit her with his right fist with a strange technique that made her fall to her knees for a few moments. The force that blasted her had not damaged her but it was like it went through her without damaging tissue but by hitting her entire body from where his fist hit all the way though her. “Feel that? My fuken! It’s doesn’t damage but it sure hurts,” he said holding his left shoulder. “You’ve got some tricks up your sleeves,” she said smiling as she got up. “I’ll make you a deal, if you manage to hit me one more time with that, I’ll leave you alone.” “Sure,” Akira said standing but still holding his left shoulder. The two continued the fight, attacking and dodging but both still felt the effects from the previous clash and were not moving as quick or as skillful as before. After a few minutes, a strange chakra started leaking out of Akira, it was black and red combined and in a few moments his eyes were completely black. His change shocked his opponent, more so when he started moving faster and in less than a minute since the change appeared, he delivered one more blow to her stomach, which made her fall again. “I’ll tell you everything eventually but don’t ever try to force me to do anything ever again,” Akira said and walked away. “Sarutobi… Who is he?” she asked before she got up and left.

Episode 14 – Mission: Information
On their way back from a special mission, Akira and Kakashi sat down at night around a fire to relax. They had to investigate a rumour regarding one of Hebi’s possible hideout but it turned out to be false information. They both looked tired from their journey and Kakashi summoned Pakkun just in case they both fell asleep. “Hey Kakashi,” Akira said looking at the stars. “What is it?” he asked with his eye closed. “Naruto… how has he handled the power of the Kyuubi?” Konoha’s copy ninja opened his eyes and after lifting his head looked at his companion for a few moments then answered: “Well… he’s had his ups and downs.” “When did the power of the fox first showed itself?” the new appointed Jounin asked. “Let’s see… I think it was when he was fooled by Mizuki to steal the scroll of forbidden jutsu and he was told the truth about why everyone treated him differently,” Kakashi said remembering what Iruka had told him. “I see. So what first triggered his power was intense feelings. He lost his mind and the Kyuubi seized the opportunity,” Akira said, analysing the situation. “And next?” “Well the second time was during a fight with a very strong ninja when he watched Sasuke die, or at least he thought he did.” The mystery behind the power of the Kyuubi and that of the person it possessed. Their connection was becoming clear to the young man with green eyes, as was what he had to do when he got back to Konoha. But there was more at work when it came to the powers of a Bijuu and although Naruto’s own power was steadily increasing, he was still in danger from the terrible monster that resided inside his body. “Tell me, has the power of the Kyuubi ever been a danger?” Akira continued. Kakashi lowered his head and sighed: “Unfortunately it has, more than once. The first time it happened was when Jiraiya tampered with the seal put on him by the Fourth and a lot of the Kyuubi’s power came out. Naruto lost al control, attacked and almost killed him.” “That dangerous, huh?” Akira commented. “The second time was while we were chasing the Akatsuki that had kidnapped the Kazekage and when Naruto saw he was dead, he lost himself to anger, fury and the desire to make the ones who killed Gaara pay,” Kakashi explained. Akira was starting to see the obvious pattern and understood why the elder ninja council did not agree with Tsunade when she wanted the young Jounin to continue his activity as a Leaf ninja. “The last time the Kyuubi got out, and the time it was most dangerous was when faced with Orochimaru. I’m not sure exactly what happened but Yamato had to use a seal that Jiraiya had given him to suppress the great power and bring Naruto back.” “But you said it was the worst it ever happened, why is that?” Akira asked turning towards him. “It was both because so much of the Kyuubi’s chakra got out that it grew four tails… and because when Sakura tried to talk to him, one of the tails hit her,” Kakashi said with a sorrow filled look on his face. The consequences of that were clear, Naruto was probably afraid of using the power of the Kyuubi by then and would avoid it all costs. The following morning they arrived back at Konoha and Akira had lunch alone with Naruto at the ramen shop and the two had a talk about what had to be done in the future.

Episode 15 – Death’s eyes
In a long, dark hallway, filled with prison cells on either side, Akira was walking towards Sasuke’s cell with the same absent-minded smile on his face. A lot of the prisoners gnarled at him or yelled but he didn’t take notice of them and kept walking. As the ANBU saw him, they stood up and one of him addressed him: “What is your business here?” “Chill guys! I’m just here to give you guys a lunch break,” Akira said smiling. “Tsunade-sama ordered us never to leave our posts,” the ANBU replied. “Actually, she said not to leave him unguarded. I’ll stay with him for a while. You guys have been guarding him for weeks now, you could use a break.” Half an hour later the ANBU were finally convinced to leave their posts after Akira had convinced them he would not leave their prisoner alone for one second. As soon as they were gone, the young man with blue eyes took off the explosive seals and opened the door. Inside, Sasuke was sitting on the ground with his head down. He did not move a muscle as Akira entered the cell and closed the door behind him. “Nice place you got here. A few paintings, a plant and a window and it would be liveable,” Akira said joking. Sasuke remained silent and kept his head down as the young man entered the room and stopped a few feet in front of him. “Not very chatty, are ya?” Akira asked looking at him. “What do you want?” Sasuke asked without raising his head. “Well, I hate seeing those two as upset as they are and I was wondering why you don’t want to come back to being a Konoha shinobi,” Akira replied. Sasuke was silent for a few minutes, then lifted his head a little and said: “I am the last of the Uchiha and I want to resurrect my clan.” “Aha… but wasn’t the Uchiha clan part of Konoha? I mean, why not let everyone here help you? I’m sure the Godaime would be glad to help you in any way she can.” “I don’t need the help of this weak little village,” the last of the Uchiha said raising his head. “Well, a Jounin from this ‘weak little village’ beat you didn’t he? And now he looks more upset than before. And it doesn’t look like you’re doing too well either,” Akira commented. “Why do you care?” Sasuke asked looking him in the eyes. “I care because they care,” Akira replied. “Well I don’t and don’t think this prison will hold me for too long.” Akira was starting to lose his patience so he employed a different method. He walked closer to the prisoner, kneeled down a couple of feet in front of him keeping his head lowered. Suddenly he raised his head, his eyes were completely black, just like they had been during the fight with Tsunade. Looking into them, Sasuke felt like his entire body wanted to get up and fight as if looking into Akira’s eyes made his chakra go wild. Even though he wanted to look away, his body did not respond. “I know you better than you know yourself,” Akira said without losing eye contact. “You could have escaped long ago and you didn’t even use all of your strength in the fight with Naruto. Although useless against him, anyone with the Sharingan eye would have used Mangekyo, even if only to distract the enemy.” Akira stood up and walked away, his eyes returning to normal but before he left the prison cell he said, without turning: “My eyes see everything, Sasuke… everything.” After he left Sasuke was still felt excited and did not move from the spot he was. After several minutes, when the ANBU returned he was able to calm down a little and sit down on the bed. ‘Like looking into… the eyes of death,’ he said to himself.
